The Proverbist understood the importance and power of trusting in God’s guidance and wisdom. He said in Proverbs 3: 5, 6 “Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, and He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]” (Amplified version). Notice that he said acknowledge and recognize Him in all your ways. Today, many serve God in the way that it suits them. They obey the parts of the Bible that they agree with and that doesn’t cause any sacrifice. If it offends them, they reject that part of the Bible. Then when they go through difficulty, they ask for God’s guidance and help. Many want 100% from God, but they won’t give God 100%. The Proverbist teaches that if we acknowledge God in all of our ways, He will make our paths straight and smooth. He will direct our paths. He will remove obstacles that block our way. Always remember, our understanding is limited. It is far better to trust in the Lord with all of our hearts instead of our limited understanding, which will fall short sooner or later. His promise is that He will direct and guide you. It’s time to shift your trust to the Lord instead of thinking that you don’t need Him. After all, if the smartest man in the world (King Solomon) taught this in His writings, isn’t it the smart thing to do to listen to him and receive his counsel? Selah.
“The Lord says, I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you” Psalm 32:8 (NLT)
