Are you the real thing?

There are many people who say they are Christian, or followers of Christ. Yet, when we speak to “Christians,” their views are all over the place.  Some feel that we should live one way, and others feel that we should live another way. This only creates confusion, and as it relates to eternal life, only one book has the bedrock solid truth, and that it is sacred scriptures. 1 John 2: 3-5 says: “Here’s how we can be sure that we’ve truly come to know God: if we keep his commands. If someone claims, “I have come to know God by experience,” yet doesn’t keep God’s commands, he is a phony and the truth finds no place in him. But the love of God will be perfected within the one who obeys God’s Word.” Please read this verse again. We cannot just know God “by experience.” Our experience might very well be wrong! We have to know and keep His commands. Anyone that claims that they are a “Christian” who does not follow God’s commands is a phony according to the scriptures. It’s an error to think that just because your mother or father serve God, you’re covered and everything is OK between you and God. We all need a personal relationship with God in Christ. James 1:21-22 says: Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Are you a doer or a hearer only?
