Patience is one of the fruits of the Spirit. It is also part of our journey to maturity. If you think about it, most things in life that have great value need for you to have patience in order to acquire it, ie: future spouse, college degree, a good meal that takes a long time to cook, losing 20 pounds, your once a year vacation, etc. Most people understand that, yet most are terribly impatient, and in the process, make many mistakes because they refuse to wait until the right time, or until they are truly prepared for it. Romans 15:5 says: “Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus.” God is patient and longsuffering with us. We have to determine to be patient in our journey as well. When we move too quickly, we can actually sin, and miss our true mark. Abraham was impatient with God’s promise, and instead of waiting for the manifestation of the promised child, he went ahead and had a child with another woman. This decision is still creating great problems around the world. Patience is deciding not to jump into something just because everyone else is doing it. It’s deciding to hold your actions, decisions and energy until the right time and place that will reap the maximum benefits for all. That my dear friend, is true maturity!

James 1:4 “But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect (Mature) and complete, lacking nothing”

La paciencia es uno de los frutos del Espíritu. También es parte de nuestro viaje hacia la madurez. Si lo piensas bien, la mayoría de las cosas en la vida que tienen gran valor necesitan que tengas paciencia para poder adquirirlas. Por ejemplo: futuro cónyuge, título universitario, una buena comida que toma mucho tiempo para cocinar, perder 50 libras,  vacaciones, etc. La mayoría de la gente entiende esto, sin embargo, la mayoría son terriblemente impacientes y en el proceso, cometen muchos errores porque se niegan a esperar hasta el momento adecuado o hasta que están realmente preparados para ello. Romanos 15: 5 dice: “Y el Dios de la paciencia y de la consolación os dé entre vosotros un mismo sentir según Cristo Jesús,” Dios es paciente con nosotros. De igual manera, tenemos que determinar ser pacientes con nosotros mismos en nuestras vidas. Cuando nos movemos demasiado rápido, podemos pecar y no llegar a la meta correcta.. Por la impaciencia de Abraham, decidió no esperar en la manifestación de la promesa de Dios, cual era que Dios le prometio un hijo con Sara. En vez de esperar, tuvo un hijo con otra mujer. Esta decisión sigue creando grandes problemas en todo el mundo. Paciencia  es decidir no saltar a algo simplemente porque todos los demás lo están haciendo. Es la decisión de mantener sus acciones, decisiones y energía hasta el momento y lugar correcto que cosechará los máximos beneficios para todos. Mi querido amigo, esta es verdadera madurez y poder!

Santiago 1: 4 “Pero tenga la paciencia su obra completa, para que seáis perfectos y cabales, sin que os falte cosa alguna”
