In Matthew 13, Jesus taught on the parable of the sower. He explains that the sower is the one who sows the word of God. The ground is the heart of man. When the word is sown, the enemy always attempts to “snatch away” what was sown in the heart. If the person does not understand what was told to him, then the enemy can rob him of that truth. However, in verse 23, Jesus shares that if the person understands what he hears, then the word within his heart will bear fruit. This is why it is so important to not just casually read the word of God. One must meditate on God’s word. That means that you focus on what you are reading, and then think about what you’ve read and how it applies to your life. It is also good to ask God for understanding of the word. This way, the enemy will not be able to “snatch away” the word, and you’ll be able to bear fruit, which is what God is looking for. Then you’ll be able to grow in grace and truth. God is pleased when His children make His word a priority. Always remember: God’s word hidden in your heart is your greatest weapon!
