Proverbs 8:7 (NCV) says: “What I say is true, I refuse to speak evil.” The Proverbist was declaring that his lips would only speak truth. Truth can be you being completely honest. It is also when you speak the word of God, because God’s word is truth. The Lord Jesus is also “the Truth”. (John 14:6) Everyone will tell you what they believe to be the truth from their perspective, but when they are confronted with the actual truth, they see that they were mistaken. But when we go to the word of God, you are reading pure truth without no deception. Deception comes from the wicked one. Today, there are many that will combine part-truth with part-deception. You can see that in today’s marketing programs, in politics and in religion. Subtle deception has become almost normal and expected. However, our godly DNA refuses to allow this kind of communication. Proverbs 8:7 in the New Living Translation adds: “For I speak the truth and detest every kind of deception.” The Proverbist was saying that he refused to speak evil, and part of evil was deception. As God’s people, let us embrace this principle and lifestyle. Let our words reflect God’s truth, and in so doing, highlight only that which is pure, just, holy, and of good report! Remember, you are the light of the world, so let your light shine in this holiday season in the midst of darkness and confusion so that people would see your light and come out to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ our Lord! (Matthew 5:16)
Oh God, restore this to our nation!
Have you ever met a person that is so confident that they are right but you can clearly see that they are wrong, and nothing you tell them makes a difference? This is one of the most important reasons why we need agreements, laws, rules and contracts. Without these documents, we would destroy each other. There would be absolute anarchy. God’s laws and principles are our universal foundation for living and behaving. His laws are the rock of civilization. Without them, we descend into chaos. This is the primary reason this nation is in the shape it is in today. We have removed God’s law from the schools, from the workplace and in many areas of government. The problem is that when you remove one law it needs to be replaced with another law. If you remove the foundation of a building, what will you replace it with? This nation must get back to God and His laws. Without that, our nations’ foundation will crumble and it will not survive. Each of us need to pray and speak out wherever we are at, and remind everyone that the strength of this nation has always been God’s laws. That is the only hope for our children and our children’s children! May God raise up godly men and women that will take their place in government, academia, journalism and business, and restore the true foundation for life, mutual respect, love, peace and true prosperity!
