Riches versus true riches-Which one do you desire?

The Lord Jesus revealed in Matthew 13:22 – “Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful”. He taught, in the parable of the sower, about the deceitfulness of earthly riches. Riches can buy you friends, but they can’t buy you true friendship. They can buy you love, but they can’t buy you true love. They can buy you influence, but they can’t buy you true respect. Deceitful riches make many people think that they are better than everyone else. But, in its true nature, it’s deceiving them. They are not actually better. Deceitful riches create a fantasy world around them, but the moment the riches are gone, so will the friends, the influence and the image. The Apostle Paul confirmed that the true riches are “Christ in You, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). If you have Christ, you have true, enduring and eternal riches!

Proverbs 10:2 – “Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death”.

Are you releasing joy, or are you provoking grief?

Selfish people do not consider their actions. Your actions will most of the time impact others as well as yourself. Some will say: “I don’t care what people think. I am going to do what I please.” They say this and don’t care of the repercussions that their actions will have. We were not born in a vacuum. Our actions will either give joy to those who love us, or cause them grief. Think about this: When a son graduates from college, who is there to celebrate with him most of the time? Conversely, when a son lands in jail for a foolish act, does it only hurt him, or does it also grieve his parents, his wife, his children, his close friends? Whether or not we realize or admit it, we are more connected than we know. Let’s strive to provide joy to those who are close to us. This pleases the heart of God!

Proverbs 10:1 – A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is the grief of his mother.
