Today, we live in a society that wants everything instantly. It’s like patience has been removed from our society. Yet, one of the fruits of the Spirit is patience. Think about it; the further we get away from God, the less patient we will become. King David learned how to wait upon the Lord. He knew that God would hear his prayer and respond. Maybe not instantly, and maybe not what he wanted to hear, but since he trusted God, he knew that God would do what’s best for him. In Psalm 40: 1-3, we can see the power of waiting upon the Lord: Psalm 40: 1-3 “I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. 2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. 3 He has put a new song in my mouth—Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.” Notice that God heard David when he waited patiently upon the Lord. But not only did God incline to him and hear his prayer, He also took David out of a horrible pit and set his feet upon a rock, a sure place! This caused David to sing joyfully and gratefully to the Lord! You might be in a similar place where you are in a kind of pit or difficult place. Don’t lose hope! Stay in the place of waiting upon God. The time is coming in His perfect timing where He will bring you out of that difficult place and establish you upon a rock. Wait upon the Lord. He hears you. This too will pass. Selah!
