There were many times in King David’s life where he felt overwhelmed! There were times where he felt restless and complained noisily before God. He would feel oppressed by his enemies. His heart would be severely pained within him. He would feel the terrors of death and horror would overwhelm him (Psalm 55: 1-5). However, whenever he felt that way, he would cry out to God in prayer and supplication. He would go to the Rock that is higher than him. He recognized that God was His shelter and strong tower from the enemy. He learned to abide in Him. He trusted in the shelter that was God’s presence. Today, remember that God is your rock, your shelter and strong tower. In Him, you are safe. David knew this, and out that relationship, he would receive all the strength and confidence that he needed to overcome any obstacle, attack and challenge. Build your house on the Rock! It is in this firm foundation that you will thrive and overcome any challenges that come your way. Selah!
Psalm 61: 1-4 “Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah”
