The Proverbist once wrote: “To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). There are correct times and seasons to sow, to be born, to invest, to speak, to remain quiet, etc. We have the God-given authority to make our own decisions and live the way we choose. And in doing so, many times we make decisions outside of the correct timing or season. Due to this, some of the things we do will not succeed. 1 Peter 5:6 says: “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time.” The word “appropriate” in this verse contains a powerful principle. It means “due season, proper time, time of visitation, appointed time, His own good time, the right time, His timing.” God has a perfect time in His will to exalt, promote or prosper you in the place of His service. This includes everything you need to accomplish His purpose in your life. So instead of praying for God to prosper you, may I suggest that you pray to God to give you discernment regarding His timing as you serve Him. This way, you won’t get ahead of His timing, and you won’t miss your time of visitation. After all, to everything there is a correct and and accurate time and season!
Are you acting like Adam or like Jesus?
Many people wonder why God became flesh and dwelled among humanity. Consider that when God created man, He made him the steward of this earth. He told man that he would be in charge on earth. What many do not know is that when God issues a decree, He Himself submits to His own decree. He honors His word (Psalms 138:2). So everything that is done on this earth is done by man. It is his responsibility, given by God Himself. When a building is built, it is built by man, not by God. God gave us the resources and wisdom, and we build it. Whenever God wants to do something on the earth realm, He seeks for a man to partner with Him. That’s why prayer is so important! Remember when God wanted to stop the rain because of Israel’s disobedience, He told Elijah to declare that it wouldn’t rain on earth. Even though it was God’s will in Heaven, it didn’t stop raining until Elijah (man) said so, and it didn’t rain for over 2-1/2 years. When God decided it was time to rain, He told the prophet to declare that it would begin to rain again, and when the prophet declared it on earth, it then began to rain again. Mankind is in charge in this earth realm. This law is so powerful that when God was ready to deal with the sin issue, He Himself became man and Jesus died on the cross to correct what another man messed up (Adam). As men and women, we are responsible for our words and actions. We have the power of life and death in our mouths. We can build and destroy with our actions. God gave us this authority. If we allow the the flesh to rule our minds and hearts, our actions will be destructive (Galations 5: 19-21). However, if we submit our authority to God’s word and Holy Spirit, the fruits of the spirit will flow and bring forth love, joy, peace, patience, mercy, humility, goodness, longsuffering and temperance (Galations 22-23). Have you submitted your authority to God like Jesus did in His earthly ministry, or are you walking in pride and arrogance because of your authority? Are you walking like Adam or like Jesus? It’s your choice!
Romans 5:19 (AMP) For just as through one man’s disobedience [his failure to hear, his carelessness] the many were made sinners, so through the obedience of the one Man the many will be made righteous and acceptable to God and brought into right standing with Him.
