But do you really know Him?

There are many people who say they are Christian, or followers of Christ. Yet, when we speak to “Christians,” their views are all over the place.  some feel that we should live one way, and others feel that we should live another way. This will only create confusion, and as it relates to eternal life, only one book has the bedrock solid truth, and that it is sacred scriptures. 1 John 2: 3-5 (CEB) says: “This is how we know that we know him: if we keep his commandments. The one who claims, “I know him,” while not keeping his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in this person. But the love of God is truly perfected in whoever keeps his word. This is how we know we are in him..” Please read this verse again. We cannot just claim that we know God. Our experience might very well be wrong! We have to know and keep His commands. Anyone that claims that they are a “Christian” who does not follow God’s commands is lying according to the scriptures. It’s an error to think that just because your mother or father serve God, you’re covered and everything is OK between you and God. We all need a personal relationship with God in Christ. James 1:21-22 says: Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Are you a doer or a hearer only?
