King David declared that the Lord was his light, salvation and strength of his life (Psalms 27: 1, 5). David had a wonderful relationship with his Heavenly Father, and he realized that God’s goodness was multi-faceted. Let’s look at the various words that David used to describe God’s goodness to him. Firstly, light is so essential to humanity. Light allows us to see the landscape. It reveals what would be otherwise hidden. It exposes dirt and debris in hidden places. God’s light exposes things in our lives that can harm us or that need to be corrected. Light shows us every obstacle in our path so that we won’t trip on the way. The scriptural definition of Salvation includes deliverance, help, aid, health and welfare. David also said that God was the strength of his life. Every time problems and crises came to destroy him, he always went to the Lord for help, and the Lord would deliver him from his enemies. He would regularly worship God in His temple and delight in His goodness. He also declared that God set him high upon a rock (v .5). Another version of this verse said that God set him high above all his enemies. This week, remember that God is your light, salvation and strength. He is also your rock, and He sets you high above your enemies!
Psalms 27: 1, 5 (1) “The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? (5) For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock”
