Christmas is a time when people celebrate the birth of Baby Jesus. But do people really know WHY He was born? John 18:37 says: “Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” His birth reveals the truth of God’s love for humanity. It reveals the truth that He is the risen Savior. It reveals the truth that He loved us even when we were separated from God because of our sin. It reveals the truth that in Him, we are adopted into His family. We are now children of God and co-heirs with Christ because He was born and died for our sins. That is why we celebrate His birth. And we do not just celebrate His birth one day…..we celebrate His birth everyday!
The true Christmas message is the Gospel which is good news!
Part of that good news is found in 2 Peter 1:3, which says: “as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue”. Not only are we saved by His goodness, In Christ, He gives us all things that pertain to life and godliness. This means that our eternity is secure in Christ, but He also cares for our daily needs. He meets all of our needs according to His riches in glory. Christmas for us is not just a day; it is a powerful revelation of just how much God loves us. Let the rest of this holiday be one of gratitude for what God has already done for us.
