The Lord Jesus taught us to pray “Your Kingdom Come, Your will be done….” When Adam had a chance to do God’s will or his own will, he decided to do his own will, and in doing so, he relinquished his authority to satan. Yet, in the Garden of Gethsemane, we see the Lord Jesus submitting to the will of His Father: “He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, ‘O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will” (Matthew 26:39). Because of this, God the Father has exalted the Name of Jesus above all other names. (Philipians 2: 5-11). The first Adam did his own will, and he ended up affecting and negatively impacting all of humanity. However, the last Adam (Jesus), restored our relationship with God because He said to the Father, “let your will be done.” Let’s pray that God’s will be done in our lives, but let’s also submit to His will, and do His will. In this way, we will greatly bless and impact those that are under our care, and we will please the heart of our Heavenly Father!
Matthew 6:10 – Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
