Debt is generally not a good thing to have, especially high interest debt. However, not all debt is bad, especially if you invest in well paying assets. The scriptures teach that there is one debt that we could never fully repay, and that is the debt of love: Romans 13:8 (Phillips) “Keep out of debt altogether, except the perpetual debt of love which we owe to one another. The man who loves his neighbor has obeyed the whole Law in regard to his neighbor”. The Greek word “Agape” is not so much a matter of emotion as it is of doing things for the benefit of another person, that is, having an unselfish concern for another and a willingness to seek the best for other believers (Biblegateway.com). Are you daily paying your debt to your neighbor? Love is not just a saying. It is an action word. Love helps. Love heals. Love cares. Love provides. When we love, we reveal God’s will to humanity because after all, God is love!
1 John 4:7-11 “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another”
