One of the seven abominations before the Lord is “one that sows discord among the brethren” (Proverbs 6: 16-19). Among the greatest challenges we have is knowing who is a genuine friend and brother, and those that are not. The ones that are not have no problem gossiping about others behind their backs. God loves truth, but detests deceit. One of the quickest ways to displease God is to gossip and sow discord among the brethren. However, most people do this without even thinking. They don’t even realize they are gossiping. Let’s set the record straight! If you share someone else’s information that was meant to be private, you are gossiping. Don’t go there. That opens the door to the devil, and it destroys friendships, relationships, and people. You might say: “No one will find out. I only shared it with someone I trust”. Well guess what? The same way you leaked it, others will leak it too. Don’t get caught up in that. Be a blessing, not a destroyer.
Proverbs 11:9 – The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous will be delivered.
