Words have power to impact the present and future. We have to be careful concerning what we say, both to ourselves and to others. Words can change an environment in a heartbeat. Words can change sadness and despair to joy and celebration. Now let’s take it to the next level. The Lord Jesus said: “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life (John 6:63).” God’s word contains life. When we speak or declare God’s word over our circumstances or situations, we are speaking life. Isaiah 55:11 says: “So shall My word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: It shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”. When God’s word is released, it never comes back void. There is eternal power in the word. So next time you pray, make sure you pray God’s word. Your opinions might fall short, but God’s word will accomplish that which God sent it to do. Don’t just pray emotionally, pray scripturally. Don’t just live emotionally, live scripturally. God’s word will release life, health, joy, purpose, clarity, honor, salvation, confidence, strength, and many other precious gifts in your life and in the lives of those you love. Remember: Words have power. What are the words that you are allowing to come forth from your mouth?
God gave you a mouth; Use it!
We all have a mouth and unique experience & perspectives. However, our mindsets and views are being continually shaped and formed by school, movies, the news and social media, family and friends. Our view on things can change depending on what we listen to. Many today believe all that they read or hear. That is dangerous because everybody has an opinion and a bias. That is why our faith has to be centered around the word of God. Romans 10:17 says: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” The key here is that faith comes by hearing, so what we hear all day long helps to fashion our belief system. Jesus said that He would give us “a mouth” and “wisdom” which none of our adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict (Luke 21:15, ESV). So if we daily connect with God’s word, our mouths will be a powerful tool and weapon against the enemy’s attacks because since we are filled with the wisdom of God, that is what we will speak when challenged. So instead of curses, anger, offense, ignorance and worldly bias coming out of our mouths, what will come forth is the love, grace, power, knowledge and beauty of God’s word and will. We all have a mouth, so let’s all use it for God’s glory and for the benefit of all those that God has called us to minister to, even those who have had the eyes of their understanding darkened by the spirit of this age.
Luke 21:15 (ESV) “for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.”
