Do you suffer from this?

I saw a small sign which read: “Gratitude turns what we have into ENOUGH!” Wow, that is a powerful perspective. Two people eat the same meal. One was hungry and didn’t have the money to pay for it, but the restaurant owner decided to bless him with the meal, so the person was extremely grateful and thankful. The other person was upset and angry because that is not what he wanted to eat. It was the same meal. What was the difference? It was their perspective. The person that was grateful saw the value in the meal. He realized that he could not take that meal for granted. He could have gone hungry that day. Yet, God provided a wonderful meal for him via that generous restaurant owner. The other person takes every thing for granted.  Each meal, the car he drives, his health, his expensive condominium, his job and his prestige and influence. This kind of perspective lacks the appreciation of just how fortunate  we are when we are able to have the things we need or want. In truth, anything can be taken away from us in a heartbeat. People have lost everything in a fire, a flood, an earthquake, or a tsunami. Today we should really reconsider God’s blessing which is all around us if we have the right perspective! So what if we don’t have everything that we desire at this point. The important thing is that we have what we need. There are many around the world who live with very little and would greatly appreciate what we have right now! Well, are you grateful?

Ephesians 5:20 “Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ”

Your perspective determines your worldview!

Perspective is powerful. Perspective is a mental view or prospect. It’s how we view things. It impacts the way we think. It forms our worldview. As an example, if you look at Judge Kavanaugh’s appointment, some people are celebrating his nomination as a great thing, while others are saying that this nomination is not good for our country. What is so ironic about this is that we’ve all been able to hear about his life experience and background, and yet you can see diametrically opposed opinions on his nomination. It all depends on one’s perspective or worldview. The worldview of the majority of citizens is being formed by the media, entertainment and academia. Make no mistake about it; when you see a commercial or a movie, you are seeing someone’s perspective on one or more issues. When a professor teaches a course, you will invariably hear their perspective on things. This is why we must get Heaven’s perspective. We must go to the word of God. It will give us God’s perspective for us, which is perfect.

Look at what the Apostle shared with us in Colossians 3: 1-10: “Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming. You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. 10 Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.”

Do you have this perspective, or has your perspective shifted elsewhere?
