Are you ashamed?

Paul used the word “ashamed” in Romans 1:16. He said this: Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.” He was honored to be a minister of the Gospel. The word “ashamed” means: “feeling shame, guilt, or disgrace; reluctant or unwilling to do something because of shame or embarrassment.” Today, the enemy is working overtime to try to make Christians ashamed of sharing their faith. He is trying to confuse this generation about what the Gospel is. In many cases, ministers are not even preaching the gospel of salvation anymore. They are preaching wellness, feeling good and positive thinking. But Jesus did not die on the cross so that we can feel good. He died on the cross to deliver us from the power of darkness, and translate us into His Kingdom. I don’t need the cross to “feel good.” I need the cross to be set free; to be born again; to be forgiven of my sins; to be part of the family of God; to be able to stand one day in the presence of God without guilt and shame. That is the Gospel. It is good news about eternal salvation. People, do not be deceived. What Jesus did on the cross is the greatest message in history, period! I am not ashamed of His love for me, and what He did for me. Are you?

Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.”

They won’t listen!

Have you ever argued with someone about something that is so clear and from your vantage point easy to understand, yet that person continues to argue that it is not so? After a while, you simply lift up your hands in exasperation and say, ” well then, have it your way!” You know they are wrong, but they refuse to see the truth, and nothing you do can change it. It’s very frustrating when you know something that can help someone else but they refuse to hear you and reject the help or wisdom that can help them with their problems. Well, consider how God must feel about this very issue. Jesus taught in the parable of the sower that even though people have the power of sight and the power of hearing, they continue to reject Him and His word, which is the most important revelation in history! Here are the verses that share this truth in the Amplified version: “This is the reason I speak to the crowds in parables: because while [having the power of] seeing they do not see, and while[having the power of] hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand and grasp[spiritual things]. In them the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says, You will hear and keep on hearing, but never understand; And you will look and keep on looking, but never comprehend” (Matthew 13: 13,14). Lord, open our eyes and ears that we may see the precious love and power that God has given us in Christ. May the eyes and ears of our families also be opened so that they would embrace the message of the cross and come to saving faith in Christ!

1 Corinthians 1:18 (AMP) “For the message of the cross is foolishness [absurd and illogical] to those who are perishing and spiritually dead [because they reject it], but to us who are being saved [by God’s grace] it is [the manifestation of] the power of God.”
