Righteousness is right standing with God. Practical righteousness is living right. In other words, when you have a chance to do right or wrong, you choose to do the right thing. Contrary to what many think, we are not superman or superwoman. There are times when the best way to do something right is to avoid it. When Potifar’s wife tried to force Joseph to sleep with her, he ran away. He lost his clothes in the process, but he avoided a pitfall. You cannot always pray the problem away. Sometimes, you have to avoid the problem altogether. Sometimes you have to “flee” from a situation just like Joseph did. God honored him, and he ended up being one of the most influential men in history. Now it’s our turn to abstain from situations that can hurt us. Stay alert!
1 Thessalonians 5:22 “Abstain from every form of evil [withdraw and keep away from it]”.
