Help! I’m tired and I need some rest!

Most people in today’s society work too hard! Many work six and even seven days a week. Many don’t even take time to go on a much needed vacation from time to time. The problem with that is that we were created in such a way that we require time to rest and recover. In the same way that our bodies need rest physically, our souls need emotional and spiritual rest. The Lord Jesus took time out to rest physically and to fellowship with His Father. It was not only physical rest. It was also a time when his soul rejoiced with His Father. This would “refill his internal batteries” so that He could continue to minister to the masses. God instituted a Sabbath so that His people would take time from their daily tasks to rest and rejoice in all the good things that God has done for them. Matthew 12:8 says: “For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” Also, in Matthew 11:28, Jesus said: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Therefore, know that It is in the Lord Jesus Christ that we find true rest for our weary souls! If you are tired and overwhelmed today, then give your tiredness and stress to the Lord Jesus. He will bathe you in His rest, and He will restore you, spirit, soul, mind and body!

Mark 6:31 “And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.”

Are the holidays really here?

We are now officially in the “holiday season.” Are you aware that the word holiday comes from the old English word “Haligdaeg” which means: Holy Day, consecrated Day or Sabbath. That would mean that a holiday was originally supposed to be a day dedicated to worshipping God, resting from work and all stress-filled activities, and sharing God’s love with family. How far have we gotten away from the original intention of a holiday! In this holiday season, make it less about the stressful, commercial applications that the Madison Ave marketers thrust upon us in 5000 commercials, and make it more about God’s grace, goodness, love, joy, and peace. Make it more about ministering God’s love to family and friends. After all, we’re in the holidays (Holy-Days).

Esther 9:19 (ISV) “Therefore the Jewish people in the rural areas who live in unwalled towns make the fourteenth day of the month Adar a holiday for joy and feasting, and people send presents to one another”.
