One of the main debates that are front and center in the national discourse today has to do with the environment. Many say that due to global warming, the earth will soon go through cataclysmic changes. Whether that is true or not, there are always horrible earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, tsunamis and other dangerous weather patterns in diverse regions that are capable of destroying entire cities and taking many lives. King David declared that ultimately, our only real, effective help comes God. When these frightful moments occur, nothing on earth help might able to help you. But I’ve heard how God has supernaturally protected His people, even in the midst of seemingly impossible circumstances. Here is what King David said: “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah” Psalm 46: 1-3. Right now, you might be in a situation that is seemingly impossible to resolve. Today God wants to remind you that He is your refuge and strength. He is present with you in your time of trouble. He is in the boat with you in the midst of the storm. He tells you today that you and Him TOGETHER will reach the other side! Be at peace…..He is your strong tower and anchor. You will not be moved!
He feels your pain!
Hebrews 4:15 is so encouraging to me. It reveals that our Lord Jesus actually understands our pain and struggles. He knows what it means to be human, so He understands our condition. Here is how this verse reads in the Amplified version: “For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize and understand our weaknesses and temptations, but One who has been tempted [knowing exactly how it feels to be human] in every respect as we are, yet without [committing any] sin.” Our High Priest understands our feelings of failure, despair, hopelessness and abandonment. Because of His love for us, He provided the way out of these conditions. Not only did He do this, He also empowered us by His Spirit to walk as victorious over-comers. The sacrifice of our our High Priest defeated death, hell and the grave. It delivered us from the power of darkness, and translated us to His Kingdom. By His sacrifice, we were adopted into His family. We are now Kingdom priests. Today, because of His sacrifice, we can now also sympathize with the pain of others and help them out of their struggles. Our High Priest tells us: As the Father sent me, I now send you (John 20:21). Go in His strength today, and be that blessing that our High priest commissioned you to be!
