Are You Speaking Life or Death?

Proverbs 18:21 says that death and life are in the power of the tongue, and John 7:38 says that out of your heart will flow rivers of living water. What’s in your heart will come out of your mouth. If hatred and violence are in your heart, with your mouth you will speak death.  If your heart is filled with love, joy and peace, words of life will flow from your mouth.
James 3 says that no man can tame the tongue but the man that does is a perfect man.  We all know that no such perfect man exists. Jesus alone was perfect!
Our world is accustomed to using words to instill fear, hatred, racism, confusion and division. But we, as Christians, are called to bring life, peace, love and wisdom to any given situation. We are called to be salt and light to the world. But it starts with our hearts.
Examine your heart today by hearing what flows from your mouth. When God spoke He created the heavens and the earth. When Jesus spoke HE saved, healed, delivered and set the captives free.
What are you using your words for? Choose life!
“The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, But violence covers the mouth of the wicked. Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭10:11-12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

There is great power in your words!

In Proverbs 18:21, The Proverbist declared: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit”. Many have heard the saying “sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.” This is absolutely incorrect. Words are among the most powerful entities in this earth realm. God holds us accountable for every word that proceeds out of our mouths. Most people talk without thinking what the repercussions may be. We do this as children as we criticize other children in school. But even as we grow up, we continue to say and declare things that can either hurt us or others, and we are oblivious as to how it may hurt or destroy others.  The Apostle James declared the person that can control their tongue  is a perfect man (James 3:2)! Today, our Good Lord and Savior reminds us to use our words to speak life, restoration, health, joy, peace and salvation to others. There is great power in your your words.

Ephesians 4:29 – Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary [h]edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
