Proverbs 13:3 reveals that if you can control your tongue, you can have a long life. This is a powerful truth, but it is not easy. Most people cannot control what comes out of their mouth. They speak without thinking about the repercussions of their words. We really need to take out some time to rethink the things that we say. Look at what James 3: 8-10 says: 8 “but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison. 9 Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. 10 And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!” In Matthew 12:36, the Lord Jesus said “And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.” Did you realize what the Lord said? We WILL give an account for every word we speak. Watch your words. Think before you speak. And when you do, make sure you are representing our Lord Jesus, because we are His ambassadors!
Proverbs 13:3 – Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything.
