There are various definitions of the word pride. We can be proud of our work; proud of our children’s accomplishments; proud of our nation, etc. However, there is a pride that destroys. This kind of pride distorts one’s view of oneself and those around them. Pride is a master sin. This kind of pride caused the fall of the archangel Lucifer. Merriam Webster’s dictionary defines pride as inordinate self esteem and conceit. Proverbs 11:2 declares that those who allow this kind of pride to well up in their hearts, will come to shame! Conversely, those who are humble walk in wisdom. Romans 12:3 states: “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith”.
Proverbs 11:2 – When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom.
Pride can kill the very vision God gave us to accomplish. Pride will not submit to the Word. . pride causes the individual to be partial (ONLY OBEY WHAT IS CONVENIENT to them) they blame others for their own failures and are very criterial when some one successfully reaches their potential. We always need a doze of humility to keep us in God’s will whenever pride tries to raise its ugly head. For this reason I give OUR FATHER GOD AND THE LORD JESUS in everything the comes to my life. Sorry for bringing long-winded but it a most interest subject that I have pondered upon during these sumner mobths.
