Who’s in your boat?

While we were on the boat in the Galilean sea today, I couldn’t help but remember that there was a time where a storm arose in that very sea while Jesus and the disciples were in a boat. He was asleep during the storm while the disciples feared for their lives. A colleague and I discussed two scenarios here. The first one was that even though the Lord of Lords was in the boat, the disciples feared the storm because they didn’t realize who Jesus really was. The second was that even though Jesus was in that storm, He was peaceful. What I realize is that true peace is not the absence of storms all around you. Peace is Jesus being in the “boat of your life.”. He is the one that can give us true peace. When we embrace His Lordship in our lives, even though there might be storms all around you, you will be at peace in your heart and mind, because you know that He is greater than the storm, and He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Are you in a storm right now? Cry out to Jesus, and He will calm the storms!

Luke 8:23-25 “But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him”.
